Radiological support services and remediation activities
We performed radiological support services during critical mission activities for the remediation of the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Maywood Superfund Site (FMSS) with multi-agency involvement including U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State, and United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) since 1996.
Over 50,000 confirmatory samples obtained and analyzed. Radiological survey results using GIS and GPS software.
Excavation and disposed of 100+ drums and multiple underground storage tanks. Excavation of 350,000 CY of soils.
We operated the NJDEP accredited USACE FUSRAP Maywood Radio-Analytical Laboratory
We have the resources to manage complex projects. Our Technical and Nuclear services staff have a broad range of experience throughout the DOE EM complex.
Project Details
We performed radiological support services during critical mission activities for the remediation of the FUSRAP Maywood Superfund Site (FMSS) with multi-agency involvement including U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), State, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) since 1996.
As a subcontractor, we provided radiological support services during large-scale remediation activities which included support for the following tasks:
We also operated the NJDEP accredited USACE FUSRAP Maywood Radio-Analytical Laboratory and presented radiological survey results using GIS (or GPS) software.
We worked over one million labor-hours with no recorded or lost time accidents and received the Certificate of Achievement for Safety.
We provided support for excavation and remediation of over 200 affected properties totaling over 300 acres of land, six streams and brooks, and 30 acres of wetlands. We provided HP services during large-scale remediation of the affected properties including the removal, transportation, and disposal of over 310,000 tons of hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste (HTRW) and soils were also removed, transported, and disposed of.
The site represented a complex source term (Th-232, Ra-226, U-238). Perma-Fix collected and analyzed over 25,000 air/water/soil samples, supported the excavation and disposal of 100+ drums of waste and multiple underground storage tanks, and supported excavation of 350,000 cubic yards of soils.
