Low Level Radioactive Materials License:

This license authorizes the Perma-Fix Northwest facility to receive, store, and treat specific quantities of liquid and solid radioactive materials and waste from off-site generators as well as waste generated materials in the LLW portion of the facility as a result of treating customer waste. This license is issued by the State of Washington Department of Health in agreement with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

This license authorizes the Perma-Fix Northwest facility to receive, store, and treat specific quantities of liquid and solid radioactive materials and waste from off-site generators as well as waste generated in the mixed waste portion of the facility as a result of treating customer waste. This is a broad license that allows Perma-Fix Northwest the authority to process radioactive waste that contains hazardous constituents as defined by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, and Toxic Substances Control Act. This license is issued by the State of Washington Department of Health in agreement with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

This permit authorizes the Perma-Fix Northwest facility to receive, store, and treat specific types of hazardous materials. The permit is issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the State of Washington Department of Ecology.

The Low Level and Mixed Radioactive Materials licenses cover an exceptionally broad range of radioactive materials with high activity limits. This allows Perma-Fix Northwest to accept large quantities of radioactive waste streams. The RCRA permit addresses a broad variety of allowable processes for treating hazardous wastes.
