Perma-Fix Northwest, Inc (PFNW), is a comprehensive nuclear waste processing facility located in Richland, Washington. The 45-acre Perma-Fix Northwest waste processing complex is comprised of a Low Level Waste (LLW) Facility and a Mixed Low Level Waste (MLLW) Facility. The LLW Facility encompasses approximately 70,000 square feet and can treat more than eight million pounds of solid, liquid, and wet waste annually. This facility has a radioactive materials license and uses both thermal and non-thermal technologies to treat LLW. The MLLW Facility encompasses approximately 80,000 square feet and has operations permitted for the treatment of highly regulated wastes at a capacity of approximately 21 million pounds of waste annually. This facility has a radioactive materials license, as well as a RCRA Permit with TSCA approval, and is the only integrated mixed treatment facility in the United States. The combination of these radioactive material licenses and the RCRA Permit allows Perma-Fix Northwest the significant advantage of treating both LLW and MLLW within a single waste processing complex thereby making Perma-Fix Northwest the most comprehensive waste treatment facility in the United States. |
