East Tennessee Materials and Energy Corporation (M&EC) is located in the East Tennessee Technology Park (a/k/a K-25) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Constructed in 2001, the facility is fully licensed and permitted to receive, store and treat radioactive and hazardous "mixed" waste. M&EC specializes in treating the most difficult types of mixed waste streams using a variety of non-incineration based technologies including thermal desorption, stabilization, chemical extraction, oxidation, and reduction. M&EC is capable of treating all forms of solid, soils, sludges and wastewater that are contaminated with organics, heavy metals, PCBs, and corrosives. The facility also decommissions and treats lab packs. Our primary customers are Department of Energy prime contractors. We do, however, accept shipments from commercial generators. Our employees are highly trained and experienced in the treatment of hazardous materials, thus ensuring that each customer's waste is treated safely and completely.
