Emergency Services

Overview

Whether one drum of leaking gasoline or a storage tank farm failure, we handle all types and degrees of spills -- from a one hour emergency response, to the long term worst case scenario, discharge.

We respond immediately to any spill and follow through to coordinate your final disposal. Trained technicians, with state-of-the-art equipment, over-seen by experienced, field-seasoned supervisors arrive quickly. Constant communication between top management and field supervisors assure you a correct, remedial approach.

Our carefully developed procedures, extensive equipment inventory and experience insure that every incident is handled in a professional manner and in accordance with programs developed by the US EPA, Coast Guard and Federal Emergency Management Association.

We provide emergency response in five states: Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Emergency Response Program and Details

  • Single drum rupture
  • UST leaks
  • Chemical fires
  • Submerged oil recovery
  • Roadside spills
  • Pipeline Breaches
  • Waterway contaminations
Immediate Response

Supervisors trained in initial response and control measures have equipped response trucks with them at all times. When a call is received the supervisors can be dispatched directly from their homes or any current location to the spill site. Concurrently other members of the team are dispatched to the response hub to marshal equipment and supplies.

Coordination

An Incidental Command System (ICS) is implemented immediately, either in conjunction with the local, state and/or federal agencies, or as a separate entity, run by one of our trained Incident Commanders. Working with your staff, we assist in characterizing the discharged waste stream. We will suggest initial containment and stabilization procedures that you and/or the responsible government agency can take.

Technologies and Equipment

We use a wide variety of clean up technologies, including but not limited to scabbling, high water pressure washing, skimming, water and land containment and industrial vacuum units.

Our fleet of vehicles includes Presvac tanker units, box van trailers, dump trailers, roll-off containers and trailers, mid-size box trucks, boats and deployment support units.

Each facility maintains several Response Units, 45 foot box trailers stocked with incident needs ready at a moments notice. Equipment includes absorbents, pads, booms, snares, oil dry, support boats and motors, tools, plumbing and constructions supplies, drums, personal protective equipment.

At the site

A mobile command center is established at every incident, using a command and control vehicle outfitted with communication equipment, fax and computer terminals. Once at the site the supervisor, who is in radio contact with the Emergency Coordinator, relays requirements for manpower and equipment. The team immediately activates and/or reinforces existing containment methods.

We provide full analytical services for identifying the waste. Once the waste has been characterized and contained, we follow through with complete remediation and disposal services.

A & A has achieved US coast Guard OSRO (Oil Spill and Recovery Operations) class A B C D and E certificates in the Captain Of The Port Zones: Baltimore MD, Hampton Roads VA and Philadelphia PA.

We expend enormous effort and time in pursuit and retention of qualified employees. Personnel are trained in 40 hour OSHA, First Aid, Confined Space Entry, Confined Space Rescue, supervisory and spill reporting protocols. We follow programs developed by the US EPA, Coast Guard and Federal Emergency Management Association.
