Function:
This position is responsible for supervision of bargaining unit and exempt personnel in the performance of container packaging, sampling, treatment and storage of radioactive and hazardous waste as required to meet facility commitments and regulatory requirements. Responsible for overall facility operations and maintaining the facility in a readiness to serve capacity. The position reports to the Operations Manager and requires strong management skills to include demonstrated capabilities in leading a multi-disciplined staff in the performance of operational work activities, Demonstrate and reinforce high quality conduct of operations, and exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written.)

Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise operational field activities of bargaining unit and exempt employees.
  • Ensure operations are performed safely and in strict compliance to approved procedures.
  • Qualify as T Plant Duty Operations Supervisor, alternate Building Emergency Director, and Operations Shift Manager.
  • Prepare work authorizations, organize and support maintenance activities, establish work priorities and approve completion of work within company standards and directives, Coordinate outside craft support.
  • Ensure all staff is properly trained, has proper equipment to perform duties, is capable of performing job assignments in safe/compliant manner and maintains proper training/access qualifications to meet Facility requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge, understanding and input to various CHPRC PROs, RDs, MPs and other project related procedures required for performance of assigned work activities.
  • Understand and implement Safety Basis documents within the facility.
  • Effectively team with the facility management team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in technical field, and 3 years supervisory experience at a Hazard Category II nuclear facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong commitment to safety and worker/management communication.
  • Excellent grammatical skills, verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, exercise personal judgment, adjust priorities and perform with minimal supervision.
  • Radiation Worker II, Respiratory Protection, and 24 Hour Hazardous Waste Worker qualifications.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Hanford or DOE Complex Field Work Supervisory experience
  • Previous experience in TRU program support, waste packaging, waste sampling, container storage and handling operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to ISMS and VPP.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Conduct of Operations

Working Conditions:
  • Work location is at the T Plant Facility Complex, located in the 200W Area of the Hanford Site (approximately 20-25 miles from Richland, WA). Field work (inside and outside assigned facility) required.
  • Current work schedule is P/Q Shift – 8x9’s (Monday – Thursday 7:00 am-4:30 pm, Friday worked 7:00 am -3:30 pm, Alternate weeks on Monday – Thursday 3:00 pm to 12:30 am with Friday off) but ability to work additional shifts is required

Health and Safety Professional

Function:
Provide support to various M&EC and Client Projects within the CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Company (CHPRC) Contract. This Project support is to assure the M&EC work teams are developing and implementing viable and compliant work processes to ensure adequate worker safety and health.

Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide industrial hygiene support/guidance for M&EC Management, the client and DOE-RL customers.
  • Perform industrial hygiene monitoring to evaluate work site conditions and pre-job planning assumptions.
  • Perform work task safety and health pre-job assessments and develop documented mitigation strategies
  • Conduct inspections, assessments, walk downs and/or other over site activities to assure facility and project compliance is maintained and monitored.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, in a quality manner, as required by the project safety and health procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene or science based discipline, and a minimum of 5 years experience in the application of recognized safety and health practices and/or; compliance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to medically qualify for specialized work assignments and/or harsh conditions: 40 Hr. Hazardous Waste Worker, Respirator User, Fall Protection User (as examples).
  • Experience with DOE recognized health and safety standards: DOE Orders, OSHA, NIOSH, AGCIH, and ANSI (as examples).
  • Experience with standard Industrial Hygiene monitoring instrumentation: OVA/OVM, Multi-gas, and Personal Dosimetry (as examples).
  • Ability to work with a team to make decisions and perform work tasks.

Desired Qualifications:
  • 40 Hr. OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations Certification
  • DOE Radiological Worker II Certification
  • Previous DOE Hanford Site experience
  • Good written and verbal communications skills through a broad range of audiences: DOE/client, line management, organized labor (as examples).

Working Conditions:
  • Field work in radiological and hazardous waste sites along with administrative work at the Hanford site (200W Area)
  • Full time day shift – 8x9’s (Monday – Thursday 7:00-4:30, Friday worked 7:00-3:30, Every other Friday off). Shift work and other schedules may be required

DRIVER/TECHNICIAN

Function:
This is a Non-Exempt. This position will function as a “hands-on” driver / technician. The applicant will be required to operate a tractor with various types of trailering equipment such as tankers, rolloff trailers, vans, and other equipment necessary to complete a wide variety of field projects. The position will also work as a Technician in the facility; operating various equipment such as; the drum auger, blend pots, compactor, forklifts, backhoe, front end loader and other equipment to process waste.

Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Delivery of loads to third party disposal facilities.
  • Inbound customer LTL truckload drum pickups.
  • Stabilization backhoe processing operation.
  • Pour up and consolidation of loose pack containers
  • Drum check in and receiving operations
  • Fuels processing and bulking operations,
  • Hazardous debris consolidation.

Qualifications:
  • A strong working knowledge and experience in aspects of the Industrial Waste Services business. Basic Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Chemical knowledge.
  • Class “A” CDL with Haz-Mat and Tanker endorsement is required.

Working Conditions:

TREATMENT TECHNICIAN

Function:
This is a non-exempt position. Plant and field work requiring sampling, receipt, consolidation and processing, storage, preparation of loads for outbound shipment and disposal.

Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform all tasks related to waste treatment, consolidation and fuels blending activities.
  • Perform Visual Inspection of Hazardous Waste.
  • Check and correct as necessary all container labels of containers being stocked, processed and shipped off-site.
  • Perform such duties as assigned by the shift supervisor.
  • Maintain the facility in a clean and orderly status at all times.
  • Contain and cleanup and spills which may occur during loading transfer or processing of waste.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Sample incoming, outgoing and processed waste.
  • Perform tracking requirements on all processed waste.
  • Perform drum and bulk check in procedures.
  • Perform sampling and processing within the waste stabilization area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School degree or equivalent work experience required, technical or undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Previous waste processing experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate ability to perform sampling and check in tasks.
  • Manual dexterity required for general work activities.
  • Ability to read and follow operating procedures, company policies, health and safety procedures and inventory waste tracking procedures.
  • Ability to handle production work and produce high volume quality work.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with company personnel.
  • OSHA 40 hour training and 8 hour refresher training, on the job training.

Working Conditions:
Plant and field environment, lifting, bending and reaching is necessary. Operate forklift, backhoe, front end loader, yard dog and process equipment. Job may require standing approximately six to seven hours per day.

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Function:
The equipment operator reports to the respective job site supervisor. The equipment operator reports to his/her Operations Manager on a day-to-day basis and is responsible to perform the below service in a timely, safe and profitable manner.

Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for performing environmental services to include, but not limited to
  • Vacuum truck operations
  • Box truck operations
  • Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections according to DOT regulations
  • 24-hour spill response and hazardous and non-hazardous waste transportation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Perform above services in a timely, safe and profitable manner.
  • Working knowledge of Environmental regulations and able to comply with all applicable federal, state and local regulations governing the work performed by PFFL.
  • Valid drivers’ license and ability to drive to various job locations and transport materisls or employees to job sites.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (either class A or B) with appropriate endorsements and DOT card.
  • Forty-hour HAZWOPER and Confined Space training are required..
  • Take direction from field supervisors.
  • Have knowledge with the operations of a vacuum truck (ikf applicable).
  • Have knowledge in hazardous nad non-hazardous waste transportation requirements and recognize potential safety hazards.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a CDL driver.
  • The equipment operator must be physically able to perform the above functions, as well as, the following functions:
  • Able to work from heights / climb ladders to 12 feet
  • Able to work in confined spaces
  • Wear a NIOSH approved respirator
  • Perform manual overhead functions (open valves, open hood of vacuum truck, lifting hose, etc.)
  • Lift 50-pounds
  • Push and pull 150 lbs
  • Able to stand, bend, sloop or crouch at least 75% of the time
  • Wear chemical protective clothing Occasionally perform in extreme hot and extreme cold conditions
  • Pass physical examination provided by physician
  • Able to pass annual Hazmat physical and comply with PFFL Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy


Working Conditions:
Employee will be traveling to and from job sites as well as a small amount of office work. He/she will be working at fuel terminals, chemical plants, power plants and industrialized facilities. During spill responses, he/she may also be working in locations such as waterways, railroads, major interstates and some residential settings.
